  • Fortunately, I have been working "front desk" at multiple places most of my adult life. This is probably one of the worst things I have ever encountered. My first ever front desk job was at a hair salon. Not fancy but definitely a step above supercuts or great clips. The salon was really close to a retirement community, therefore we had A LOT of retirees. Our most sought after stylist was an older Vietnamese women and her name was Chin. Chin spoke broken English but was still the funniest, talka

  • was especially busy. Wait list for Chin was about 3 hours long at this point. Everyone in the salon was exhausted and we still had a few hours left before we closed. Chin especially. I never saw this woman work faster than that day. An older gentleman walks in and he's probably 80 years old. I hadn't seen him before and I had gotten to know most of our regulars at this point. What this man does next is something I think about to this day. ( 5 years later) He tells me his name and then says and I

  • HIS EYELIDS BACK AND THEN YELLS "YOU KNOW!! CHING CHONG!!" I just stood there in disbelief. The clients in the waiting room were just staring at him and then me. He then points at her and says "that one." And of course its Chin. I looked at her, she looked at me. She waves me down to let him sit and wait for her. She takes him next because she finished her perm early and the next person on her schedule wouldn't be back for 15 min. She completely butchers his haircut. On purpose, obviously. Man w

  • [REDACTED] I'm surprised that the old guy thought that everything would go well with his visit with that kind of behavior. If I was his grandkid, and was with him, I don't think I would ever go back due to second-hand embarrassment. Speaking of getting your hair cut - I got my haircut at a salon that was considered above Supercuts, because it was strongly recommended from a friend(girl). Never again. My haircut was so bad that I was seriously considering cancelling my vacation to New Orleans, be

  • So the smart IT guy set up the "official" address of <@>company.com but then also created an email alias of KChin, and told Kevin his email address was KChin. So he didn't violate the standard, just added an alias to it. And the manager never knew.

  • thatburghfan Oh, this reminded me of a kinda-sorta related story from years ago, also involving an Asian person named Chin. The company had an email naming system of <last name> <first initial>@company.com. When Kevin Chin got hired, his email address would have been <@>company.com. Luckily the IT guy saw right away that was not going to be appropriate. Asked the IT manager if he could set it up to be KChin instead. Manager said no, we have a standard system, we don't deviate from it. Idiot mana
